Karnataka’s Food Safety and Drugs Administration Department has suspended the food licences of Amazon, Instamart and BigBasket after poisonous datura fruits and seeds were found listed on their platforms as edible products for human consumption.
According to an NDTV report, the state regulator, following complaints and an inquiry, found poisonous datura fruits and seeds listed on e-commerce platforms, in some cases carrying FSSAI licence or registration numbers, despite posing serious health risks if consumed.
