Afghan Taliban’s Commerce and Industry Minister Nooruddin Azizi will visit India, marking the beginning of his five-day visit. Azizi will meet his Indian Counterpart, other officials and business community.
According to top intelligence sources, the Minister is likely to urge the Indian Government for full scale cooperation to establish an air brigade for trade.
“After closure of transit trade with Pakistan, the Afghan Taliban regime is turning towards Iran and India. Kabul Wants Maximum Usage Of Chahabahar Port In Iran and Trade Air-Bridge Between Kabul and New Delhi,” said sources.
Kabul is aiming to increase trade volume with India from the current around $900 million to around $2-$3 billion USD.

This is second highest visit of an Afghan Taliban Minister which comes a couple of weeks after Afghan Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

India hosted Muttaqi for an eight-day visit from October 9 to 16. The Afghan foreign minister’s visit to India assumed greater significance as it came at a time when both India and Afghanistan are having frosty relations with Pakistan over a range of issues, including cross-border terrorism.
During his visit, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar announced an upgrade of its technical mission in the Afghan capital Kabul to an embassy. Jaishankar informed Muttaqi that the bond between the two nations is historical and the country has always helped the Afghan people whenever they face any trouble, including natural calamities.

During his visit, members of Afghan Sikhs and Hindus met Muttaqi at the embassy of Afghanistan in New Delhi. Muttaqi also visited Deoband in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district on Saturday. He met senior clerics, scholars and administrators of Darul Uloom Deoband, one of the most influential Islamic seminaries in South Asia.
Jaishankar spoke with Muttaqi following a strong earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan on November 3.
The Taliban government’s spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, has said that Afghanistan’s relations with India are based on independence and mutual respect, and are not influenced by Pakistan or any other country. The Taliban spokesperson’s remarks come amid the ongoing border clash between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
