Seeing the increasing popularity of Renuka, she proposed to Sonu Nigam to do a Haryanvi song, which he liked.

Sonu Nigam has sung songs in many languages and dialects apart from Hindi, but through ‘Chunni’ he gave voice to Haryanvi songs for the first time. The song’s writer Amin Baroudi helped him with the Haryanvi words and typical pronunciation. Sonu Nigam himself is from Faridabad and understands Haryanvi.

Before ‘Chunni’, Amin Barodi had written four songs for Sonu Nigam, but did not like his lyrics. After this, the fifth song ‘Chunni’ was written, which Sonu Nigam liked and agreed to sing. This song was released on 7 August.

The song was written by Amin Barodi, directed by Sahil Sandhu and music was composed by OG Music of Chandigarh. That means, artists associated with Haryana played a big role in the song from the beginning.

Sonu Nigam recorded the male version at his studio in Mumbai in June, while Renuka recorded the female version at OG Music Studio, Chandigarh. After this, the song was shot in Dubai, due to which an attempt was made to give it an international look.
