‘साहब! मैं जिंदा हूं, मृत बताकर पेंशन रोक दी…’ बुजुर्ग की फरियाद पर हुई जांच, जिम्मेदार अफसर पर गिरी गाज

A shocking case has come to light from Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Here an elderly person complained to the DM that ‘Sir! I am alive and my pension has been stopped by showing me dead. After this, when the DM investigated the case, the negligence of Village Development Officer Yogendra Singh was found. District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey immediately suspended Village Development Officer Yogendra Singh and ordered a departmental inquiry against him. This action of DM has stirred up the district officials.

According to the information received, Rajendra Singh, who lives in Gram Panchayat Fattapur of Garhmukteshwar development block, was being given old pension by the Social Welfare Department. It is being told that when verification was done in the year 2024, Rajendra Singh was shown dead on paper by Village Development Officer Yogendra Singh. Despite this, his pension continued till February 2025. As soon as CDO Himanshu Gautam took charge in Hapur district and instructed for verification of pension holders, it was revealed that Rajendra Singh, who was dead on paper, is being given pension in the account for the last three months. On this, the Social Welfare Department stopped their pension.

On the closure of the pension, Rajendra Singh himself came to the District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey with evidence of his being alive and assured that he was alive, but his pension has been stopped by showing him dead. DM investigated the matter to District Social Welfare Officer Shivkumar. In the investigation, the negligence of Village Development Officer Yongendra Singh was found. After which the DM immediately suspended them and ordered departmental action. This action of DM caused a stir among the neglectful officers subordinate to the district.
