Shiv Sena (UBT) has issued a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs and directed them to compulsorily attend the parliamentary party meeting to be held on Thursday.
In the circular issued by the party on June 16, it has been said that this important meeting has been called to discuss various organizational and political issues. The meeting will be held at 11 am on Thursday in the parliamentary party office located at Parliament House.
This development has come to light at a time when 6 out of 9 UBT MPs have rebelled. According to sources, six MPs sent a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at 9:30 am on Wednesday for merger with the Shinde faction. However, this has not been confirmed yet by the speaker or the rebel group.

Discussion of sending letter to Speaker for merger with Shinde faction
UBT’s rebel MPs include Nagesh Patil Ashtikar and Sanjay Dina Patil. Sanjay had rejected the news of leaving the party on Wednesday morning itself. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut in Delhi abused the rebel MPs during the press conference.
Raut said- These bastards are #$%. These are dishonest people. Dishonesty is in their blood. Raut later clarified that such words are part of common parlance in Marathi. Only 3 out of 9 Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs, Anil Desai, Rajabhau Waje and Arvind Sawant, were present in Raut’s press conference. Raut said that other MPs themselves should come forward and refute the speculations.
This is the second major split in Shiv Sena in four years. In June 2022, 39 MLAs rebelled under the leadership of Eknath Shinde and formed a separate faction of Shiv Sena.

Group of 6 MPs may get relief from anti-defection law
- Shiv Sena (UBT) has 9 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Under the anti-defection law, at least two-thirds of the MPs are required to be together to avoid disqualification after a split in a party.
- That is, if 6 out of 9 MPs decide to secede together, then they can claim to call themselves a legitimate faction.
- For this reason, the news of rebellion of 6 MPs is being considered important from both political and legal point of view.
- According to experts, merely forming separate groups will not be enough.
- In future, these MPs may also have to complete the process of merger with another party, so that their position can be legally strengthened.
Congress said- Shah is compensating for his insult in Lok Sabha
Congress has accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of trying to get MPs from opposition parties to join the BJP and weakening Indian democracy.
Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh said on X- Shah is doing all this to compensate for his humiliation in the Lok Sabha on April 17, 2026, when he could not get the delimitation bills passed.
Ramesh said- Shah’s allurements are attracting many people who were elected just two years ago on a strong anti-BJP agenda and are now joining the BJP. —————–
