Karnataka Deputy CM and Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D.K. Shivkumar indicated on Wednesday that he may soon leave the post of state president. He said in a program organized on the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi in Bengaluru – I cannot remain in this post forever. It has been five and a half years and it will be six years in March.
Shivkumar said- Now other leaders should also get opportunity. However, he assured the party workers that he will remain in the frontline leadership of the Congress. He said- I will be in leadership. Don’t worry, I’ll be in the front row. It doesn’t matter whether I stay or not. My endeavor is to build 100 party offices during my tenure.
After this statement of Shivkumar, the ongoing discussion of his tug-of-war with Siddaramaiah for the post of Chief Minister has been rekindled. The Congress government in Karnataka is going to complete two and a half years of its 5-year tenure this month. There is a discussion going on within the party in the state about changing the post of CM along with the state president.
