In Madhavpura area of Ahmedabad, the action taken by a married woman by her own landlord has shocked everyone. A 21-year-old woman living in a rented house has lodged an FIR against her landlord Dawood Mujibur Shaikh at Madhavpura Police Station. The woman alleges that the landlord found her alone in the house and forcibly held her in his arms and pressurized her to marry him.
According to the victim, she was living with her husband on rent in the house of Dawood Mujibur Shaikh in Madhavpura area for the last eight months. The woman does the work of cutting cloth threads from home, while her husband works as a labourer. On January 27, at around 4 pm, the woman was alone in her house and working. At the same time, the landlord saw the door of the house open and suddenly entered inside.
Attempt to do wrong with a married woman
The woman alleges that Dawood forcibly held her and said that if she did not marry him, he would die. Before the woman could understand anything, the landlord took out a knife-like weapon from his pocket and started attacking her wrist. Meanwhile the woman’s brother reached there. The accused also told the woman’s brother to get his sister married to him, otherwise he would commit suicide.
The woman and her brother somehow snatched the knife from the hand of the accused. After this Dawood beat up the woman’s brother. When the noise was raised, the accused ran away from there. The scared woman, along with her brother, locked the house and went to her mother’s house living nearby and narrated the entire incident.
After some time, the accused also reached there and started pressurizing the woman for marriage while assaulting the woman’s family. Meanwhile, the woman’s father reached home and chased the accused away from there. After this the woman and her family decided to lodge a complaint with the police.
Police registered a case against the accused
According to Madhavpura police, on the basis of the woman’s complaint, a case has been registered against landlord Dawood Mujibur Shaikh under sections 75(1), 78(1), 79, 115(2) and 331(3) of BNS. The police has also provided security to the woman so that she can do her work without fear. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
