It is becoming extremely hot in many parts of the country. Heat wave havoc is being seen in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha. The mercury crossed 40°C in most of the districts of Rajasthan. There was less traffic on the roads in Jodhpur.
In Uttar Pradesh, Yogi government has changed the timing of council schools up to 8th. The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 44.4°C in Prayagraj and 44°C in Varanasi. In Jharkhand also, the government has changed the timings of schools from today.
Bhopal, Raisen and Betul of Madhya Pradesh remained cloudy since Monday morning. Whereas in Chhatarpur district the mercury reached a record 44.3°C. The temperature in Kaimur, Bihar remained near 43°C on Monday. 10 students fainted in Buxar.
Flood like situation has arisen in Guwahati, Assam after heavy rains. Roads were flooded, traffic came to a complete standstill and a woman died after falling into a drain. The temperature has reached above 40°C at 14 places in Odisha.
The Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heatwave will affect many areas of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh between April 20 and 25.

22 April:
- Heatwave like conditions may occur in Jharkhand, Odisha and Rajasthan. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu may experience hot and humid weather.
- Heavy rain may occur in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. There is a lightning alert in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Goa, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
23 April:
- The effect of heat will continue in North-West India. Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar will also have hot and humid weather.
- There may be light rain with thunder in some parts of Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. There is a possibility of lightning in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
