In the last three years, 12,900 Indians and 9,875 Chinese nationals applied for EB-5 visas. Through this visa one gets the opportunity to live permanently in America. For this, an investment of about Rs 7.5 crore has to be made in America. Also, it is necessary to employ at least 10 Americans. Preference is given to those investing in rural areas.
EB-5 visa is equivalent to a green card
EB-5, also known as Investor Visa, is equivalent to the American Green Card. Due to the strictness being done by the Trump administration regarding H-1B visa in America, Indians are now betting on EB-5 visa. This ensures that one will get American citizenship.
Only after depositing the amount along with the EB-5 visa application, the applicant gets permission to stay in America.
165 applications for Trump Gold Card, only 1 issued
US President Donald Trump launched the Trump Gold Card to get US citizenship in September, 2025. This requires an investment of approximately Rs 9.5 crore in America.
Trump’s gold card has proved to be a flop. Finance Minister Latnik had said in April 2026 that 338 people had investigated this matter. According to court filings, 165 people from around the world applied and only one person has been issued a Trump Gold Card so far.
The biggest question regarding Trump’s gold card is its legal validity. Trump has started this by using the executive power he has received as President. In such a situation, there is a fear that when Trump is out of power, the new government may abolish this gold card.
Professor-scholar quota ends prematurely
The quota of EB-1 visas, equivalent to the Green Card in America, has ended prematurely this year. The last date was 30th September, but the quota of 7 thousand got exhausted on 1st September itself. Professors, scientists and research scholars can apply in this category.
