A multi-storey building suddenly collapsed in Satya Niketan, South Delhi. As soon as the building collapsed, a stampede-like situation was created among the people present nearby. Eyewitnesses say that within a few moments the entire building was reduced to debris. An eyewitness said that 20-30 children may be trapped inside. However, this has not been officially confirmed yet.
The accident happened near Shiv Temple in Satya Niketan near Moti Bagh. It is being told that PG was running in this building. In such a situation, there is a possibility of students being present inside. As soon as the information was received, police and fire teams reached the spot. The rescue team is busy removing the debris and pulling out the people trapped inside.

‘We ran away as soon as the building collapsed’
An eyewitness present at the time of the accident said that the building suddenly collapsed. Before people could understand anything, a cloud of dust spread everywhere. The people present nearby immediately ran away from there. According to eyewitnesses, 20 to 30 people may be buried under the debris. Another eyewitness also said that many people are feared trapped under the debris. However, it is not yet clear how many people were present inside the building at the time of the accident.
The fire department received information about the accident at 1:33 pm. After this 12 fire engines reached the spot. Police, MCD and other relief teams are also busy in removing the debris.
People calling from under the debris
RK Puram MLA Anil Kumar Sharma, who reached the spot, said that some people were calling from under the debris. He said that many people may still be trapped inside. The rescue operation is continuing.
Local people are also helping in removing the debris along with the rescue teams. At present, the biggest effort is to reach the people trapped under the debris and bring them out safely.
NSUI expressed concern
NSUI also expressed concern about this accident on social media. The organization said that information is coming to light that DU students are trapped in this incident that took place near the South Campus of Delhi University. NSUI demanded the administration to immediately speed up relief and rescue operations. The organization has also demanded investigation into the accident and fixing responsibility. However, this information about students being trapped has not been officially confirmed yet.
CM said- Every possible effort is being made
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also expressed concern over the accident in Satya Niketan. He said that teams of DDMA, NDRF, Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police, MCD, CATS and Civil Defense are carrying out relief operations.
He said that as a precaution, the building adjacent to the accident has been evacuated. Rekha Gupta said that every possible effort is being made to rescue the people trapped under the debris and provide immediate help to the affected families. He also said that the situation is being constantly monitored and all agencies are working in coordination. Safety of citizens is the biggest priority of the government.
At present the rescue operation is going on. Only after the debris is completely removed will it be known how many people were trapped in the accident and how many were rescued safely.
