The government has decided to remove all emergency restrictions imposed on the purchase of petrol and diesel from July 1. After the new order, now the limit of filling only 200 liters of diesel in a vehicle in a day at petrol pumps will be removed, that is, now you will be able to fill as much diesel in your vehicle as you want.
Along with this, the ban on factories and commercial buyers has also been removed. The Petroleum Ministry had imposed these restrictions on June 11 due to the shortage of petrol and diesel, which have been withdrawn through a new order of June 29 after the supply improved. For example, diesel was priced at ₹95.20 per liter at petrol pumps in Delhi, while it was priced at ₹134.50 per liter for bulk buyers. Due to this huge difference of around ₹39 per litre, telecom tower companies, factories and bus-truck operators started buying oil directly from petrol pumps instead of wholesale, due to which the demand at petrol pumps suddenly increased abnormally.
Question 6: Why was there such a big difference in prices?
answer: After the West Asia crisis that started in late February, global crude oil prices had increased significantly. To protect the general public from inflation, government oil companies did not increase retail prices and kept them stable. However, as per the rules, market rates continued to be applicable for bulk buyers like telecom and heavy industries, which were very high in terms of cost. For this reason there was a difference between the two rates.

answer: According to the government, after the tension in the Middle East reduced, the supply of crude oil and fuel from producers in the Gulf countries has improved. Ship movements and oil shipments through the region’s most important sea route, the Strait of Hormuz, have now returned to normal, boosting domestic stocks.
