Delhi High Court will hear ED’s petition on Monday in the money laundering case related to National Herald. ED has challenged the trial court order. The trial court had refused to take cognizance of the ED charge sheet on 16 December 2025. On December 22, Delhi High Court had issued notice to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other accused. The case will be heard in the bench of Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma. ED has alleged that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others took over assets worth about Rs 2000 crore of Associated Journals Limited (AJL) as part of a conspiracy. For this, Young Indian Company was used, in which the Gandhi family had 76% stake. December 2025: Trial court said – ED reversed the process, first investigation, later FIR. In 2022, Sonia-Rahul were interrogated for hours. In June 2022, Rahul Gandhi was interrogated for 50 hours in 5 days in the National Herald case. Then on July 21, 2022, Sonia Gandhi was questioned for 12 hours in 3 days in the National Herald case. During this, more than 100 questions were asked to him. ED had also interrogated Rahul Gandhi for more than 50 hours in five days in June. What is the National Herald case? BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, while filing a petition in Delhi’s Patiala House Court in 2012, had accused Sonia, Rahul and Congress’s Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandes, Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey of taking over the loss-making National Herald newspaper through fraud and misappropriation of money. According to the allegation, Congress leaders formed an organization named Young Indian Limited Organization to take over the properties of National Herald, in which the Gandhi family holds the majority stake. Illegally acquired AJL, which publishes National Herald, through Young Indian. Swamy alleged that all this was done to capture the ₹ 2000 crore building of Herald House located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in Delhi. According to the allegation, the company worth ₹2000 crore was bought for only ₹50 lakh. Subramanian Swamy had demanded criminal prosecution against Sonia, Rahul and other Congress leaders related to the case. Among the accused, Motilal Vora and Oscar Fernandez are now dead.
