The attack took place on a major road in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, which connects Karachi University and several other universities in the city and leads to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

This is the reason why the Rangers headquarters located in Gulistan-e-Jauhar is considered a high-security area.
