The Supreme Court of Pakistan has fixed the hearing on August 18 on the petitions related to the meeting and treatment of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The case will be heard by a bench of three judges.

The court registrar’s office has issued notices to all concerned parties and their lawyers. The bench includes Justice Shahid Wahid, Justice Naeem Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

Imran Khan is lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since August 2023. Hearing of many cases including corruption and terrorism is going on against him.

Since the fall of his government through a no-confidence motion in April 2022, his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been continuously demanding his release and a meeting with him.

Imran had mentioned Arvind Kejriwal

When Imran Khan last appeared for the hearing, he had alleged that he was convicted in different cases five days before the general elections, so that he could be out of the election.

Citing the example of India, Imran said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was given interim bail for election campaign, whereas he was not given any such opportunity. He said that in a democracy, all leaders should be treated equally during elections.

Pakistani journalist had expressed fear of death

Pakistani journalist Wajahat Saeed Khan living in America had released a video this week expressing the fear of Imran Khan’s death.

After this claim, Imran Khan’s sisters also raised questions as to why they were not being allowed to meet their brother.

Wajahat later clarified that he had not confirmed the news of Imran Khan’s death. This was just his estimate based on information received from some army officers.

Imran’s party warned of agitation

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said that it will organize a massive agitation if it is not allowed to meet Imran Khan. The party has also announced a long march till Islamabad on 27 September. The party claims that if needed, more than 20 lakh supporters can take to the streets.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that PTI’s central and provincial leadership is with the decision. According to him, the purpose of the long march is not only to secure the release of Imran Khan but also to ensure the right to meet him.

The sisters were allowed to meet in November 2025

Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan visited him in Adiala jail in November 2025. After coming out of jail, he had said that Imran Khan is physically completely healthy, but he is being mentally tortured.

Uzma had alleged that Imran’s access to the outside world had almost been cut off and held Army Chief Asim Munir responsible for this.

Imran is in jail since August 2023

Imran Khan is lodged in Adiala jail since August 2023. Cases are going on against him in many cases. Since his arrest, PTI has been continuously demanding his release, regular visits and providing better medical facilities.
