Hisahito is the son of Japan’s Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko and the nephew of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito. Prince Hisahito will be the heir to the throne of Japan after Emperor Naruhito and Crown Prince Akishino. After 39 years, a member of the royal family has become an adult.

Before Hisahito, his father became an adult in 1985. At that time the age of majority was 20 years. Later the age of majority was raised to 18 years.

The ceremony will be held in March next year Prince Hitahito’s coming of age ceremony has been postponed for now. Prince Hitahito issued a letter through the Imperial Household Agency upon turning 18, saying he wanted to focus on his studies and pursue them further.

Hisahito is a third year student at the Senior High School of Tsukuba University in Tokyo. He will pass out of high school in March next year. His coming of age ceremony will be held after that. Hisahito wrote in the letter that time passes very quickly, he feels as if he had recently enrolled in kindergarten and junior school.

Hisahito expressed his gratitude to his parents and sister Mako Komuro, who left the imperial family after getting married.

There are 17 members in the royal family. Five of these princesses have not married because they have not found a suitable groom. If a princess marries a commoner, she loses her royal title. But this rule does not apply to men. The second reason is that from 1965 to 2006, not a single boy was born in the royal family of Japan. Prince Hisahito was born in 2006.
