Many Bollywood celebrities have reacted after the lathicharge on students protesting against the NEET paper leak at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak Shah, Seema Pahwa and Rajkumar Rao have supported the demands of the students through social media.
Actor Anupam Kher described the students’ protest as the most fair and honest, and also instructed them to beware of the agenda of external political parties. At the same time, Ratna Pathak Shah compared the current situation to Dronacharya of the mythological story and Seema Pahwa raised questions on the silence of big artists of the film industry.
Anupam Kher said- ‘The performance of the students is the most honest’ Actor Anupam Kher shared a video on social media platform X and expressed grief over the lathi charge at Jantar Mantar on Monday. Students are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and educational reforms.
Anupam Kher said, “Students, I felt very sad after watching the video of the protest. When students just want to put forward their demands, they should not be treated like this. I too was once a student and used to ask questions to the authorities. So I understand your restlessness, anger and hopes for the future very well. Student protests are the most honest protests, because they are only concerned about their future, rights and the improvement of the country. I support you wholeheartedly.”
Warning on political interference, he said, “As an elder brother, I want to say that when outside political parties start joining your protest, then be careful. Their aim is not to take your cause forward, but to fulfill their selfish interest. In the beginning, it seems that the protest will be strengthened by more people coming, but these people start using your voice for their political agenda.
Later the issue is no longer yours, they take the cameras and slogans with them. This harms your truth. Keep your protests to yourself, don’t let anyone misuse your voice.”
Ratna Shah said- the future of the students is at stake. After supporting actor Naseeruddin Shah, his wife and senior actress Ratna Pathak Shah also released a video on Instagram. Referring to the Eklavya episode of Mahabharata, he targeted the system.
Ratna Pathak Shah said, “I always thought the story of Ekalavya was wrong that Guru Dronacharya put his entire future at stake by asking for his thumb. Now I understand what kind of Guru he was. We talk about becoming world gurus, but are not even able to communicate with our students. We want students to sacrifice their entire future so that some people can save their political power? What kind of gurus are they?”
Apologizing on behalf of his generation, he said, “We saw what was going wrong, but could not stop it in the right way at the right time. So we have lost the right to guide you. But we have the resolve to support you. Call us, we are with you.”
Seema Pahwa said- ‘Big stars are hidden like rats’ Actress Seema Pahwa shared an emotional video on Instagram and expressed her displeasure over the silence of big artists of the industry. Tagging CJP, he said, “I am with these children, their families and the country. I don’t understand how this will stop because humanity has ended.
It’s a shame so many people are still silent. Do you think that if the government turns against you, you will lose your job or post? Awaken your humanity. Look at the crying, suffering and beaten children. Are you hiding at home so that your awards do not stop? Are you all cowards? be ashamed of! Come out and support the students.”
Seema Pahwa also praised 75-year-old senior actress Shabana Azmi, who took to the streets with students at Jantar Mantar. She said, “I have become a big fan of the women who are marching there at this age. If I had not had my personal problems, I would have run away and faced the lathi charge along with the children.”
Rajkumar Rao’s appeal – ‘Solution will emerge through talks’ Actor Rajkumar Rao also emphasized on peaceful dialogue while expressing his views on social media. He wrote, “When young people feel they are not being heard, it is a reminder to society that it must listen. Every voice must be heard with dignity, fairness and respect. At the same time, peace must be our greatest strength. Violence only deepens wounds and takes away solutions. This is a time for dialogue and empathy.”
He further said, “Students should express their views responsibly and the authorities should listen with empathy and openness. Real and lasting change comes not through confrontation but through dialogue. We all want the development of the country and its foundation is fair education.”
What is the whole matter of Jantar Mantar protest? The anger of students has increased after the incidents of leaking of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) papers across the country. Thousands of students under the leadership of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and various student organizations are holding an indefinite protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
The main demands of the students are an impartial investigation into the rigging in the NEET exam, resignation of the Education Minister and implementation of stringent reforms in the examination system. On Monday, the police lathi-charged the students who came out to surround the Parliament, after which this issue has become a topic of discussion at the national level.
