Junior doctors in Kolkata have called off their strike. He was on fast for the last 15 days. Along with this, the health strike of doctors on Tuesday has also been called off. On Monday evening, the panel of doctors had a discussion with CM Mamata for about 2 hours at the Secretariat in Nabanna.
The junior doctor, who was on hunger strike since October 5, was demanding justice in the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor. They are also demanding changes in the healthcare structure of the state. Junior doctors will organize a mass conference at RG Kar Hospital on 26th October.
On October 19, West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant had invited doctors to meet CM Mamata today. The time allotted for the debate was 45 minutes, but the meeting lasted for 2 hours.
On October 20, CM Mamata Banerjee had appealed to end the fast. During this, he had said that most of the demands of the doctors have been fulfilled.

Junior doctors said on Sunday that the fast will not be stopped before the meeting.
Health services should not be affected Mamta had said that everyone has the right to protest, but health services should not be affected by this. It is not possible to remove everyone in a department simultaneously. We have already removed DHS and DME, so rise above politics and get back to work.
Junior doctors have been on hunger strike for the last 15 days demanding justice for trainee doctors and improvement in medical facilities. So far, six doctors have been admitted to hospital due to ill health, while eight others are on an indefinite fast. Doctors demand that the state government take concrete steps to solve the problem by October 21.
Mamta said- Is it right that the doctor should decide who should be removed? Mamata Banerjee had also requested the doctors to end their fast and meet her on Monday. She had said, ‘I have removed the Commissioner of Police (CP), Director of Medical Education (DME), and Director of Health Services (DHS), but I cannot remove the entire department.’
He had asked whether it is logical that you decide which officer should be removed? There is a need to make a policy for some demands and the government will fully cooperate in this, but we do not accept that doctors should order the government as to what to do.

Chief Secretary Manoj Pant met the doctors who were on hunger strike and tried to convince them to end the strike.
Mamta told the doctors- forget my post, consider me as sister. Mamta had asked the doctors to understand their responsibilities and pay attention to the fact that the health services of the state are being affected by this strike. He said, ‘People depend on your treatment. Where will the poor people go? They get free treatment in government hospitals. Please forget my position and consider me as your sister. Your demands are legitimate, but you should serve the public.
Doctors across the state will go on strike on October 22 The protesting doctors have said that if their demands are not met, all medical professionals across the state will go on strike on October 22. Along with this, doctors have also planned to organize a big rally on Sunday, October 20.

Doctors had earlier put forward 5 demands, out of which the government fulfilled 3… then hunger strike. Junior doctors went on strike for 42 days from August 10 to September 21 against the rape-murder incident. The doctors had earlier placed 5 demands before the government. Of these, the government accepted 3 demands. CM Mamata had assured to consider two other demands and conditions.
After this the doctors ended the strike. He had returned to work in hospitals. On September 27, a case of beating of 3 doctors and 3 nurses came to light in Sagor Dutta Hospital, due to which the doctors got angry and started the strike again on 1 October.
On 4 October, the junior doctors called off the strike, but continued the strike. He said that we are returning to work because a large number of patients are facing problems in government hospitals. However, he had given an ultimatum of 24 hours to the state government. After this he started a fast.
