Justice Srishanand was appointed as Additional Judge of Karnataka High Court on 4 May 2020. He became a permanent judge on 25 September.
Justice V Sreesanand of the Karnataka High Court has expressed regret over the controversial comments made during the hearing. During the court proceedings on Saturday, he said that the comments were misrepresented on social media platforms.
When Justice Srishanand was reading this message, some members of the Advocates Association, Bangalore (AAB) were also present. According to the lawyers, the judge has assured not to do this again in future.
Actually, two videos of Justice Srishanand went viral on social media. In one, he was seen calling a Muslim area of West Bengaluru as Pakistan. In the other, he was seen reprimanding a female lawyer.

The message was read in front of the members of Advocate Association Bangalore According to a report by Bar and Bench, Justice Sreesanand summoned the Advocate Association Bangalore and Bar Association senior lawyers on Saturday, September 21, and read out a note expressing regret over the comments.
Association president Vivek Subba Reddy said he regretted his comments and asked us to convey this to all bar members.
A lawyer said that Justice Shrishanand also asked the lawyers to convey his message to the female lawyer. Justice Shrishanand has also said that he will not make any such comment in future.
The Supreme Court had said – we will issue guidelines After the video surfaced, on September 20, a 5-judge bench headed by CJI Chandrachud sought a report from the Registrar General of the High Court within 2 weeks. CJI DY Chandrachud has also sought assistance from Attorney General (AG) R Venkataramani and Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta in this matter. The court also said that some basic guidelines can be issued.
Recording of live streaming banned after video goes viral A day after a video clip from a YouTube channel went viral, the Karnataka High Court issued a disclaimer half an hour before starting live streaming of its court proceedings. It prohibits recording videos without permission. Legal action will be taken against those violating the order.
The message said- No person, organization, print, electronic and social media platform will record, share or publish the live-streamed proceedings. Permission will have to be taken in advance for this.
He also made objectionable comments on the female lawyer In the second video, Justice Shrishanand is seen reprimanding a woman lawyer. Justice Shrishanand told the woman lawyer that she knows a lot about the other party. Maybe next time he will also tell the colour of her undergarment.
