Omar Abdullah was the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 to 2015.
After registering victory in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday that it would be foolish to demand the restoration of Article 370 from the BJP, because it was the BJP that had removed Article 370. However, we will keep this issue alive.
Omar Abdullah said that our political stand will never change. We will not remain silent on this issue. We will continue to talk on this and hope that tomorrow when the government changes at the Centre, when there will be a new system in the country, then we will discuss this and be able to achieve something for Jammu and Kashmir.
Modi had talked about restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He is a respectable person. Hopefully they will definitely do what they have said.
Here, there will be a meeting of the National Conference legislature party on Thursday morning. The party won 42 seats in the assembly elections. Omar is going to form a coalition government with 7 seats of Congress-CPI(M).
He can be elected the leader of the legislative party in the meeting. His father and party president Farooq Abdullah has announced that Omar will become the CM. However, the date of swearing in has not been decided yet.
