इंटरनेशनल एमी अवॉर्ड्स नॉमिनेशन मिलने पर बोले इम्तियाज अली: ‘गर्व है कि भारत को उस मंच पर ला पाए, जहां इतने सारे अंतरराष्ट्रीय दिग्गज खड़े हैं’

Recently, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ has received nomination for two categories of International Amy Award. The film, based on the life of late Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila, has been nominated in the best actor category as Best Mini-Series and lead hero Diljit Dosanjh of the film.

Now Imtiaz has given his reaction to this. Talking to the news agency PTI, Ali said that he was proud that the film, which came on Netflix in 2024, was praised by the critics and has made India stand with international veterans.

Imtiaz said- ‘We had just returned from dinner that we got this news. It is like a blessing, which has come to us through the story of Chamkila. I am very happy that this film is getting voice and it is being seen. We are very proud that we were able to bring India on the platform where so many international giants are standing.

Imtiaz, popularly known for films based on Morden relationships like ‘Jab V Met’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Highway’ and ‘Tamasha’, said that ‘Chamkila’ recognition reminds us that a “very local film” has to be made to make an international identity.

He said- ‘You should not try to talk in such a language that is international, because there is no such language. You should talk in your native language in the context of cinema. He further said- ‘This is a big learning and it feels very good that this film is based on Punjab and it has been made due to the love from the people of Punjab.’

Imtiaz also praised actor singer Diljit Dosanjh, who is playing the role of Chamkila in the film. Praising Diljit, he said that through his performance, he caught Chamkila’s character and sidelined his image as a highly popular singer, who performs at a packed stadium.

He said- ‘It is incredible that even for a moment, Diljit did not remember who he was. When he was performing bright in front of hundreds of people in those small villages of Punjab. He used to feel that he was shiny. ‘

Imtiaz further said- ‘When a person sees the film, he is watching Diljit, but he never thinks that it is a person who goes to Canada and gives performance to the houseful audience there. His confidence was really amazing and God blesses him. I know that they have a lot to give this country, this world and I will eagerly wait for what he does next. ‘

Imtiaz and Diljit will soon be seen together in a new project. Imtiaz said about that unnamed project- ‘He is doing his next film with me or my next film is with him. We are currently shooting for it.
