After getting bail from the High Court on September 19, the victim was treated at Bhubaneswar AIIMS. He disclosed the matter the same night.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a judicial inquiry into the assault on an army officer and sexual harassment of his fiancée at Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar. High Court Justice Chittaranjan Das will preside over the judicial inquiry. The government has sought an investigation report from him within 60 days.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) gave this information at 1:21 am on 23 September. According to the statement, the government has also appealed to the High Court to monitor the investigation being conducted by the Crime Branch of the police.
Actually, on the night of 15th September at 1 am, the army officer and his fiancée were returning after closing the cafe. During this time, some youths beat them up and misbehaved with them on the way. The couple reached Bharatpur police station with a complaint. It is alleged that there the policemen locked the army officer in the lockup and sexually harassed his fiancée.
The government has suspended five policemen of Bharatpur police station and registered a case against them. The 7 accused youths who assaulted and misbehaved with the couple were arrested on the night of 20 September. However, they got bail from the court after 4 hours.
