Amidst the H-1B visa fee controversy in the US, China has announced to start ‘K-Visa’ to attract talent around the world. It is being described as an alternative to America’s H-1B visa. The new visa will be applicable from 1 October 2025.
According to the South China Morning Post, the K-visa is for young and skilled professionals who are associated with the field of Stem (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and who have completed their studies from a popular university or research institute or are still studying or doing research there.
Those applying will have to submit the necessary documents. More information related to this will be issued by the Chinese Embassy and Consulate. The decision was approved by the Chinese government in August.

According to the report, Chinese Prime Minister Lee Kiang had last month ordered amending the rules of foreign youth coming to the country.
China releases 12 types of visas
China currently releases 12 types of visas. The Z-visa is currently used to work in China. Its validity is 1 year old. But in K Visa, foreigners will get the facility to stay in China for a long time. However, it is not yet known for how long it will be.
The new K-visa is different from the old visa rules because it has some big facilities, which are not in the ongoing Z visa. If a foreign person with Z visa wants to work in China, he will have to take a job or sponsorship from a Chinese company or institution first.
But this is not the rule in K-visa. In this, the applicant does not need any local company. Just his ability, such as age, education and work experience, will be seen. This will make it easier for foreign professionals to apply.
Chinese company will be able to apply without job
The Z-visa required to get a Chinese company job and the visa was valid only for the same company. A new visa has to be taken on changing the job. But now there will be no such rule with K-visa. Directly can be applied based on education and experience.
No official announcement has been made about K-visa fees. At the same time, Z visa fees vary for citizens of every country.
It is 2.9 thousand rupees for Indian citizens, 2.3 thousand rupees for American citizens, 8.5 thousand rupees for Canadian citizens and 5.5 thousand for Australian citizens.
Apart from this, service charge is also added to the visa application process, which costs between 2 to 3 thousand for Indians.

China launched 2 programs for foreign talent
According to reports, China wants to create a technical force in the world by 2035. For this, he needs foreign experts and skilled people. China has launched two programs to fulfill this purpose.
Talented Young Scientist Program- This is to work and research researchers up to 45 years of Asia and Africa.
Outstanding Young Scientist Fund Project – This is to come to China up to 40 years of top class scientists and engineers to come to China and work there.
