Are you travelling to a new city? Are you facing trouble because you don’t know anyone there? Wouldn’t it be great to have a companion? Exactly this thought crossed the mind of 24-year-old Yogendra Naidu from Visakhapatnam. He founded a new startup called ‘Duedoh’ to connect travellers visiting new places with locals. Whether you are travelling to another town for better medical services, planning a solo trip, or visiting a different city for any other work, this organisation will be there to support you.
Duedoh founder Yogendra Naidu spoke to News18 representative Mastan Vali over the phone and revealed several details about the startup.
According to Naidu, navigating an unfamiliar city can be difficult, with travellers often struggling to find accommodation, move around locally or coordinate their plans. Duedoh aims to address these problems by connecting travellers with local helpers, known as ‘Dudes’, who can assist them during their stay.
“You can book a ‘Dude’ in advance for the help and guidance you may need,” Naidu said, explaining the platform’s central offering.
The startup is expected to officially launch its services in the last week of October. In the first phase, Duedoh will operate in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Goa. Registration has already begun through its official website, where people can also sign up to become Dudes. Applicants are required to submit documents including Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence and RC.
Naidu said the platform has already attracted interest even before its official launch, with around 2,000 customers waiting for the service. About 300 men and women have also applied to work as Dudes.
Duedoh has designed four packages based on customer requirements. The basic Dude Light package starts at Rs 299, while Dude Pro starts at Rs 499 and Dude Max at Rs 999. Dude Support is priced at Rs 5 per minute. Customers will be able to see the applicable charges while making a booking and select a package based on their requirements and budget.
Naidu said he started the company with an initial investment of Rs 50,000. The startup currently spends around Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 a month on artificial intelligence (AI) tools as it works on using technology to provide its services at a low cost.
The company currently has a nine-member team, seven of whom work full-time and two part-time. Naidu said none of the team members are drawing salaries at present as they work towards getting the startup off the ground.
“We are working without expecting profits at this stage and are determined to make the idea successful,” he said.
Currently, Duedoh’s website is live, while an app is also expected to be launched soon.
