Udhayanidhi Stalin is also the Sports Minister of Tamil Nadu. Now apart from youth welfare and sports development, he also has the responsibility of planning and development department.
The cabinet of Tamil Nadu government was reshuffled on Saturday. Udhayanidhi Stalin (46), son of CM MK Stalin, has been made the Deputy CM of the state. The new swearing-in ceremony will take place at Raj Bhavan at 3.30 pm on Sunday.
The state government had recommended Governor Ravi to nominate Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi as Deputy CM. Besides, it was also asked to allocate Planning and Development Department in addition to their existing departments.
At the same time, V Senthil Balaji has returned to the Council of Ministers two days after getting bail in the money laundering case. Apart from him, Dr. Govi Chezhian, R Rajendran and SM Nassar have been included in the cabinet.
On September 27, the Supreme Court granted bail to former minister Balaji after 15 months in the money laundering case. ED arrested him on 14 June 2023. At that time he was the Energy Minister in the state government. Apart from this, he also had the Excise and Prohibition Department.

Udhayanidhi had said- Sanatan Dharma is like dengue-malaria Udhayanidhi Stalin had given a statement on 3 September 2023. He compared Sanatan Dharma with dengue, malaria and corona. Udhayanidhi had said that mosquitoes, dengue, fever, malaria and corona are some things which cannot only be opposed, but it is necessary to eliminate them.
Udhayanidhi had said that what is Sanatan? The word Sanatan comes from Sanskrit. This is against equality and social justice. Sanatan means permanent i.e. something that cannot be changed. On which no one can raise questions.

Ministers of many departments changed
- SM Nassar, who was inducted in the expansion Tamil Nadu government, was not included in the cabinet earlier. He was removed from the post of Milk and Dairy Development Minister.
- Current Milk and Dairy Development Minister T Mano Thangaraj, Minority Welfare Minister Gingee S Masthan and Tourism Minister K Ramachandran have been dropped from the cabinet.
- R is handling the Backward Class Welfare Department. S. Rajakannappan has been made the Minister of Milk and Dairy Development and Khadi.
- Tamil Nadu’s Higher Education Minister Dr. K. Ponmudi has been made the Forest Minister.
- Environment Minister Shiva V. Meyyanathan has been made the Backward Classes Minister.
- Dr. M. Mathiventhan who was handling the Forest Ministry has now been given the Adi Dravidian Welfare Department.
- Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu has been given the additional portfolio of Environment and Climate Change.
