Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on Monday morning, with intense showers already snarling traffic and triggering waterlogging across several parts of the capital even as fresh alerts point to more rain through the day.

Heavy showers swept across parts of Delhi-NCR through Monday morning, with intense rainfall reported from South Delhi and adjoining areas.
According to ground reports on social media, very heavy rain accompanied by loud thundering and lightning strikes is already being seen across Noida, Greater Noida and adjoining parts of Delhi, with several areas having already crossed 50 mm rainfall accumulation.
More parts of Delhi are likely to be covered by the downpour over the next few hours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rain and a yellow alert for moderate rain across several districts, with thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 30-40 kmph also forecast for parts of the city.
Traffic movement slowed significantly in multiple areas, and residents have been reporting congestion and waterlogging on social media through the morning.
According to IMD’s advisory, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and winds of 30-40 kmph is very likely at isolated places across South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahdara, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi and North Delhi.
Moderate rain with similar thunderstorm and wind conditions is expected at many places in Central, South, South West, West, North West and North Delhi.
