Delhi Police has registered an FIR against many opposition MPs including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi for forcibly entering Akashvani Bhavan. The complaint has been made by All India Radio.

In fact, on Tuesday, opposition MPs were taking out a ‘Save Democracy’ march to the Election Commission in protest against the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and SIR. The police set up barricades on the way and made preparations to end the protest by making the leaders sit in buses.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi suddenly got down from the bus and went inside Akashvani Bhawan. Both of them sat on strike under the banyan tree in the campus.

At the same time, today Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has called opposition MPs for lunch at 1 pm in Delhi. In this meeting, all the MPs will sign a letter seeking an appointment with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Delhi Police said- Rahul did not take any permission to take out the march.

Delhi Police had claimed that they came to know through social media that leaders of the INDIA block would march from Parliament House towards the office of the Election Commission (ECI) on October 6 at around 10:30 am.

He said that no application was given for this, hence no permission was issued from our side. Security arrangements were made for this gathering due to fear of violation of prohibitory orders under Section 163 of BNS.

Opposition’s allegation – Gyanesh Kumar committed wrongdoing, BJP supported him

The opposition alleges that during SIR, the Election Commission did not maintain transparency in the process of change in the voter list and Form-6 for new voters. The opposition cited the objections of two election commissioners within the commission and the hearing in the Supreme Court regarding Form 6. Congress alleges that CEC Gyanesh Kumar supported BJP and got votes stolen.

Questions on Gyanesh and Election Commission regarding SIR

According to a report by The Indian Express, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections on SIR-related decisions and orders at least 14 times on record.

The report claims that some decisions were issued without the knowledge or recommendation of both the election commissioners. After this, the opposition is protesting across the country demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
