India has proposed a three-part truce plan aimed at reducing the immediate risks arising from the Russia-Ukraine war, with a focus on stopping attacks on critical infrastructure, keeping essential commodities moving and protecting commercial shipping in the Black Sea, people familiar with the proposal told News18.
The proposal seeks to halt attacks on energy facilities and other infrastructure, ensure the continued movement of grain and energy through Black Sea ports, and end strikes targeting commercial shipping in the Black Sea.
The three elements together make India’s proposal broader in scope than some of the other ceasefire initiatives discussed during the conflict. While previous proposals have largely focused either on an energy ceasefire or keeping grain shipments moving, India’s formulation brings energy infrastructure, commodity flows and commercial shipping under one framework.
