Trinamool Congress MP in West Bengal Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has resigned from all organizational posts of the party. Ghosh, MP from Barasat, in a letter to state Trinamool president Subrata Bakshi said that she was resigning from the post after deep mental struggle and long contemplation. However, refusing to leave Trinamool Congress, she said that she will remain associated with the party like a common worker.

Kakoli had attended a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari in Kalyani on Monday. Whereas the party had also informally forbidden him from doing so. Sources associated with the party claim that some other TMC leaders also attended Shubhendu’s meeting along with him.

At the same time, CM Shubhendu Adhikari had also claimed that the TMC MP told him that he had finally got freedom. Only after this statement of Shubhendu, speculations about his leaving the party had intensified. However, the TMC leadership has not yet given an official response to this entire incident.

Kakoli mentioned controversies related to TMC government

In his resignation, Kakoli has also mentioned several controversies related to his former TMC government. He also mentioned the teacher recruitment scam, recruitment corruption, jail related controversy and the incident related to the death of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College.

He also criticized the party’s election strategy and the growing influence of advisory group I-PAC and alleged that unelected and undemocratic forces were increasingly influencing the organizational functioning.

Resigned from the post of president of the organizational district unit on Sunday

MP Dastidar had recently openly expressed his disappointment towards some sections of the party leadership. On Sunday, Dastidar had resigned from the post of president of TMC’s Barasat organizational district unit.

The party accepted his resignation the very next day and appointed Tapas Chatterjee as the new president. Dastidar was the national president of TMC’s women’s wing and was also associated with the party’s ‘Banga Janani’ programme.

There is also a claim of resignation of more than 100 councilors.

According to media reports, more than 100 councilors have resigned from seven municipalities of North and South 24 Parganas districts after the false election results. The affected municipal bodies also include Diamond Harbor municipality, which is part of the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency of TMC’s second-largest leader Abhishek Banerjee. Of its 16 board members, 8 have resigned. However, the TMC leadership has not yet given an official response in this regard.
