Floods that came from Tibet region of China reached Rasuwa district of Nepal on Tuesday. Due to this the water level of Bhotekoshi river increased rapidly. 9 policemen posted at Timure Border Outpost in Rasuwa have gone missing amid the floods. The administration has warned people living on the banks of Trishuli river to be alert. Prime Minister Balen Shah has directed to deploy the army in the affected areas. Nepal’s Prime Minister Balen Shah has directed to deploy the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police in the flood affected areas of Rasuwa for rescue and relief operations. Shah said additional security personnel from other districts have also been sent to the affected areas. In a statement issued on Facebook, the Prime Minister said that the ‘National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority’ is active in relief operations. He said work has begun in conjunction with medical teams, scouts and the Red Cross, with arrangements being made to send additional ambulances and medical staff to the affected areas. Shah said that relevant instructions have been given that people living in low-lying areas along the river banks should be immediately evacuated to safe places. Appealing to people not to go to the river banks, the acting head of the authority, Dharmaraj Upreti said that an alert was sent to the affected areas as soon as information about the flood came from Tibet. After the flood, 9 armed policemen posted at the Border Outpost (BOP) in Timur are reported missing. According to officials, the soldiers are unable to be contacted. However, 25 to 30 other people present at the post are safe. The Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers flow through the northern areas of Nepal.
