As many as 288 Indian nationals remain uncontactable in flood-hit Nepal, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday, as India stepped up efforts to ascertain their whereabouts and ensure their safety.

According to the latest information available with the MEA, the 288 uncontactable Indians include 73 nationals working on the Trishuli-I power project. The Indian Mission is in contact with the project head.

The list also includes two separate groups of 37 and 49 nationals from Tamil Nadu who had travelled through Samrat Travels and Fly Everest Travels.

Another 32 Indians from West Bengal, who travelled through Samrat Travels (Nepal), are in Timure in Rasuwa district. In addition, 61 Indians from different states who travelled through Richa Tours are near Keung, while 33 Indian nationals from Kerala are also uncontactable.

India has also intensified its humanitarian assistance to Nepal. Two aircraft carrying 47.5 tonnes of relief material have been sent to the flood-hit country, the MEA said.

The MEA has also set up a dedicated control room for Nepal to coordinate efforts, including tracking the status of Indian nationals and facilitating relief and evacuation operations.
