This Shiva temple is a symbol of the architecture and military power of the Chola dynasty. This temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Great Living Chola temples.

‘I hear ‘Om Namah Shivaya’

PM Modi while addressing a function organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great Chola Emperor Rajendra Chola I at Gangakonda Cholpuram temple said, ‘In a way, this is the reverence of Raj Raja and today the way Ilaiyaraja immersed all of us in Shiv Bhakti … What a wonderful atmosphere. I am an MP of Kashi, when I listen to ‘Om Namah Shivaya’, my hair stands up. The amazing energy of Shiva philosophy, this spiritual experience makes the mind emotional.

The PM said that I have got the privilege of worshiping and worshiping at the feet of Lord Brihaadeshwar. I have prayed for the welfare of 140 crore Indians in this historic temple and the continuous progress of India. I wish everyone should get the blessings of Lord Shiva. Chola kings expanded their diplomatic and business relations to Sri Lanka, Maldives and South-East Asia. It is also a coincidence that I have returned from Maldives yesterday and today Tamil Nadu I became a part of this program.

The PM’s visit to Tamil Nadu is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP )’s cultural connection attempt, where the party is trying to strengthen its political reach. PM Modi has often mentioned Tamil literature and folk tales in his meetings.

Adi Tiruvathirai festival concluded

Gangakonda Cholpuram was established by Rajendra Chola as a ‘Vijay Nagari’ after his victorious maritime visit in South-East Asia about a thousand years ago. The Prime Minister arrived in this temple to attend the Adi Thiruvathirai festival. The grand completion of this festival, which started from July 23, took place on today i.e. Sunday.

Welcome to PM with the recitation of holy hymns

Shivacharya and Othuvamurthy, who was the master of Shaiv scriptures, welcomed the Prime Minister by reciting the holy hymns. A special musical presentation was also organized on the occasion by the great musician Ilaiyaraja based on the Thiruvasgam. The temple complex was decorated with flowers and green arches, while the police took control of the entire area for security.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Finance Minister Thangam Thenarsu, Hindu Religious and Charitable Entrance Minister PK Shekhar Babu, Transport Minister SS Shivshankar and Union Minister L Murugan also participated on the occasion.
