Prime Minister Modi had given the SMART policing formula during the Guwahati conference in 2014. He has expanded the same formula.

Taking forward his formula of ‘SMART’ policing in Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar, Prime Minister Modi asked the police to be strategic, meticulous, adaptable, reliable and transparent.

He was speaking at the concluding session of the 59th Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Conference. Prime Minister Modi had given the SMART policing formula during the Guwahati conference in 2014. He has expanded the same formula.

At that time, under SMART policing, he had asked the police to become strict and sensitive, modern and mobile, alert and accountable, reliable and responsible, technosavvy and trend. About 250 officers of DGP and IGP level participated in this three-day conference.

Apart from this, more than 750 officers participated virtually. Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also attended the meeting.

Modi said- use India’s ‘dual AI’ on the threat of AI The conference discussed in detail the existing and emerging challenges to national security including terrorism, left-wing extremism, cyber crime, economic security, coastal security and smuggling.

During this, PM Modi suggested turning the challenge into an opportunity by using India’s dual AI power i.e. Artificial Intelligence and Aspirational India as a solution to the threats posed by digital fraud, cyber crime and AI technology.

Said- Pay tribute to Sardar Patel by completing the target Apart from this, the Prime Minister suggested considering organizing a National Police Hackathon to solve some important problems. He asked all the security institutions from the Home Ministry to the police stations to pay tribute to Sardar Patel by setting targets on any security challenge and completing them by the 150th birth anniversary next year.

Conference being held outside Delhi since 2014 After becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has taken keen interest in this conference. Before 2013, this annual meeting was held in New Delhi. In the Modi government, the Home Ministry and Intelligence Bureau decided to organize it outside Delhi.

After this, this conference has been held in Guwahati (Assam), Rann of Kutch (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), Tekanpur (Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh), Statue of Unity (Kevadiya, Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). And has been organized in Jaipur (Rajasthan).
