Three students of IIT Bombay died on the spot and one was seriously injured in a tragic road accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway near Khopoli in Panvel, Maharashtra.

According to Panvel taluka senior police inspector Gajanan Ghadge, the accident occurred on the lane leading from Khalapur towards Mumbai, on the day of Gudi Padwa. According to reports, a Polo car going from Pune to Mumbai was traveling at a very high speed when the driver suddenly lost control of the car in Khopoli area. After this the car overturned several times, causing this terrible accident.
