After this, the US imposed 25% tariff on India, which later increased to 50%.

Some issues in the US-Japan have not yet agreed, due to which the Japanese dialogue Ryosei Akajawa’s visit to the US was canceled.

America is not expected to reduce tariffs, so the journey canceled

According to Nikki Asia, Akajawa wanted his visit to give a written promise from the US that the tariff on Japanese products would decrease, but when it became clear that it would not happen, they canceled the journey.

Several government officials told Nikkei Asia that Trump put pressure on Japan first reduced the tariff from it and then placed a condition to increase the import of agricultural products.

In return, Japan hoped that the US would reduce the tariff burden on automobiles, but did not get any concrete confidence from Trump.

Japan says that the attitude of America intervene in its domestic policies.

Akajawa said in the press conference that there are many issues on which further interaction is needed at the level of officers.

He said that as long as the talks continue to move, they are postponing the journey to America, but it is possible that go again in future.

Claim- Japan has agreed to increase rice quota by 75%

According to the report, if Japan increases the purchase of rice from the US, it can harm its farmers. This can also make the agricultural community angry.

Meanwhile, the White House claimed that Japan had agreed to increase US rice import quota by 75% in July itself. Later, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba clearly stated that his country would not sacrifice the interests of his farmers under American pressure.

America-Japan does not trust each other

Experts believe that the main problem in Japan and America interaction is not to trust each other. The US wants Japan to convert its promise of investing of $ 550 billion into a written agreement.

At the same time, Japan is saying that if it wants a written guarantee, then the US will also have to write that 15% tariff on Japanese auto will not be implemented immediately.

Japan and America have been close ally since World War II. The US is responsible for protecting Japan under the 1951 security treaty, while Japan is an important part of the American strategic appearance in Asia.

America imported $ 148 billion from Japan

Economically, the relationship between the two countries is very strong. According to data, the US imported about $ 148 billion from Japan in 2024, while Japan exported only $ 80 billion from the US.

Differences regarding dairy products in Indo-US

Like Japan, America is seeking permission to sell its dairy products (such as milk, cheese, ghee etc.) in India. American companies claim that their milk is clean and quality and may be cheaper in the Indian market.

India is the largest milk producing country in the world and crores of small farmers are engaged in this sector. The Indian government is afraid that if American dairy products come to India, they can cause huge damage to local farmers.

In addition, religious sentiments are also attached. Most people in India want pure vegetarian milk products, while some dairy products in the US use animal bones (eg ranet).
