They should, because people know about our contribution, they cannot ignore it. Without ‘Sandesh Aate Hai’ they cannot make ‘Border 2’. This song features both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar. The contribution is huge, so they will definitely have to mention our name somewhere.”

Anu Malik had told in an interview that one day while sitting in the sound studio, a tune came to his mind. He narrated this tune to Javed Akhtar and Javed Saheb narrated the same tune to JP Dutta who was making Border at that time. JP Dutta liked the tune and on his request, Javed Akhtar wrote the first 3 stanzas and then being unhappy with the lyrics, he also added the paragraph ‘Ae passar gayi hawaa’. As soon as the lyrics were completed, JP Dutta and Javed Sahab were sitting in the presence of Anu Malik and deciding how to compose the song in just 3 days. This discussion lasted for about 7 minutes, in this time Anu Malik composed the entire song.

Javed Akhtar received the Filmfare Award in 1997 and Screen Award in 1998 for this song. He was also awarded the 45th National Film Awards.
