China’s reaction has come after the Democratic Party’s lead in America’s midterm elections and gaining control of Congress. China said on Wednesday that the US elections are an internal matter and Beijing is ready to continue cooperation with America. China made it clear that it will continue to work towards implementing the important consensus reached between the top leaders of the two countries and resolving mutual differences through dialogue.
China US Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reacted to the results of the US midterm elections during a press conference held in Beijing on Wednesday. He was asked how China views the electoral success of the Democratic Party in America. In response to this question, Mao Ning said, ‘America’s midterm elections are its domestic matter.’
He said that China, together with America, is ready to maintain and implement the important agreement reached between the heads of state of the two countries.
China wants to strengthen relations with America
Mao Ning said that China is committed to enhancing communication with America, properly resolving differences and expanding the scope of cooperation. He said that China wants to develop constructive relations with strategic stability based on mutual respect, fairness and reciprocity. This reaction of China indicates that Beijing wants to maintain stable bilateral relations with Washington despite the changes in American domestic politics.
Xi Jinping met twice this year donald trump
Two important summit meetings have taken place this year between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. In May, President Trump visited China’s capital Beijing. After this, between 23 and 25 September, Xi Jinping reached America, where he held several rounds of talks with Trump. China had described these meetings of the two leaders as a historic achievement. According to Beijing, the objective of these meetings was to bring strategic stability in the relations between the two countries and reduce mutual differences.
Trump, Putin and Jinping may meet in APEC conference
Meanwhile, China has also confirmed that talks are ongoing with America and Russia regarding a possible trilateral summit meeting. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that China is in touch with the relevant parties in this regard. This possible meeting can be held during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference to be held in Shenzhen city of China on 18 and 19 November.
According to the report of British newspaper Financial Times, officials of America, Russia and China are discussing preparations for a possible meeting between President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. However, China has not yet formally confirmed this meeting. Final information regarding the program and agenda of the meeting has also not been revealed.
This reaction of China is considered important amid the changed political equations after the American midterm elections. Beijing has indicated that it wants to continue high-level communication and cooperation between the two countries despite changes in America’s domestic politics.
