The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma, has gathered fresh information from the interrogation of the prime accused and her husband, Samarth Singh, regarding his movements after her death and during the period when the Madhya Pradesh Police was searching for him.
Sources said Samarth told CBI officials that he stayed in Bhopal for two days following Twisha’s death before travelling to Jabalpur, where he remained until May 22, when he surrendered before a local court, India Today reported.
These disclosures have now shifted the focus of the investigation towards identifying individuals who may have assisted him while he was on the run. CBI officials are examining who provided him shelter, transport, or other logistical support in Bhopal and Jabalpur, with sources indicating that Samarth has not fully cooperated on this aspect during questioning.

The agency is also expected to question several doctors linked to the case. This development follows allegations made by Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, who claimed that Twisha was addicted to drugs and had consumed them in large quantities, suggesting this as one of the reasons doctors approved a Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) procedure.
Officials are additionally reviewing Twisha’s consultations with a psychiatrist. The CBI is likely to examine both treating doctors and the psychiatrist to verify the claims made by Giribala Singh and to determine whether medical records support these assertions.

The CBI recently took over the case after re-registering a Madhya Pradesh Police FIR naming her husband, Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh as accused. Twisha, 33, was allegedly found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12.
Before the case was transferred to the central agency, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Madhya Pradesh Police arrested Samarth, a lawyer from Jabalpur and brought him to Bhopal. He was later remanded to police custody for seven days by a local court.
Twisha’s family has alleged dowry-related harassment by her in-laws after her marriage on December 9, 2025, accusing them of mental and physical abuse that allegedly drove her to take the extreme step.
These allegations have been strongly denied by Giribala Singh, who, in several media interactions, raised questions about Twisha’s medical treatment and mental health. Samarth was arrested on May 22 after remaining absconding for 10 days.
Last week, the CBI arrested former district judge Giribala Singh a day after the Madhya Pradesh HC cancelled her anticipatory bail. Officials have indicated that the mother-son duo may be confronted with each other’s statements as part of efforts to establish the sequence of events leading to Twisha’s death.
Twisha’s family has also accused Giribala Singh of attempting to tamper with evidence after securing bail. They alleged that although police seized CCTV footage from the family residence on May 13, selected clips were later circulated on social media in an attempt to influence the investigation.
