For countless medical aspirants, the ultimate dream is to complete an MBBS from AIIMS Delhi, one of the most prestigious and respected medical institutes in India. But turning this dream into reality is incredibly difficult. As the country’s top medical college, AIIMS Delhi sees fierce competition, and only those with the highest NEET-UG ranks manage to secure a seat. To stand a real chance, you must clearly understand the rank and marks needed for admission.

What Rank Do Students Need For AIIMS Delhi?

Your NEET rank is the key that decides whether you will enter the gates of AIIMS Delhi. Based on last year’s data, the opening rank was 1 and the closing rank for the general category was around 47. In simple terms, if you belong to the general category, you must secure a rank within the top 50 to get an MBBS seat here. The competition is so intense that only students who answer almost the entire paper correctly manage to reach this level.

NEET Qualifying Cut-off vs Admission Cut-off

In NEET, there are two important cut-offs you need to know about: the qualifying cut-off and the admission cut-off.

The qualifying cut-off is the minimum score you need to be eligible for counselling. For example:

– General (UR/EWS): 50th percentile (approximately 686–144 marks)

– OBC/SC/ST: 40th percentile (approximately 143–113 marks)

– UR/EWS – PwBD: 45th percentile (approximately 143–127 marks)

– OBC/SC/ST – PwBD: 40th percentile (approximately 126–113 marks)

However, just qualifying is nowhere near enough for AIIMS Delhi. To actually get a seat here, you must score very high marks and secure a top rank, which usually means scoring around 700 or more.

MCC Counselling

Admission to AIIMS Delhi comes under the All India Quota (AIQ), and the counselling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). After the NEET results are declared, students register for counselling. This is followed by choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification. After each round of counselling, the opening and closing ranks are published. These ranks give students a clear idea of the range within which admissions are granted.

AIIMS Delhi consistently has the highest cut-offs in the country, and there are strong reasons for this. It holds the position of India’s No. 1 medical college and maintains exceptionally high academic standards. This attracts the brightest students from every corner of the country. On top of this, the fees are low, the facilities are world-class, and the career opportunities after graduation are excellent. Naturally, millions of students aspire to join AIIMS Delhi every year, and this massive competition drives the cut-offs to the highest levels.
