Hours after a rebellion intensified in the Trinamool Congress (TMC), with a group of dissident MPs deciding to support the NDA, senior party parliamentarian Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar on Monday accused party supremo and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of instructing “someone” to hurl abuses at her after she stepped down from all organisational party posts last month.

Speaking to ANI, Dastidar said, “I have been with Mamata Banerjee for 40 years. I never imagined I would live to see a day when she would instruct someone to hurl abuse at me…”

Kakoli Ghosh Opens Up On Rift With TMC

When asked if Banerjee tried to reach out to her after she tendered her resignation, the TMP MP claimed, “No one from that side tried to reach out.” She alleged being ignored by the party, saying she was “simply cast aside.”

The TMC leader further cited Bengal poll loss as the reason behind her quitting the posts. “When I was the District Chairperson and the election results showed a poor outcome, I took personal responsibility, thinking perhaps I hadn’t performed my role effectively and stepped down,” she said.

‘I Was Cast Aside’

“Even after that, no one met me or even called; I was simply cast aside. It was as if they unleashed someone to bark…,” she further stated.

Without providing much details about how the rebel faction would function, she added that it will work to keep the country secure, claiming that national security is paramount to the rebel group.

“We will find out what happens later. For now, isn’t it enough that we want to work for Bengal, for the country, and to keep India secure? This is a crucial issue. The issue of the nation is paramount to us…,” she remarked.
