A nursing student sustained serious injuries after leaping from a moving e-rickshaw to escape an attempted assault by three men in Lucknow. The student, who studies at a university on Kursi Road, was returning from her uncle’s home in the Burlington area on Monday evening when the incident occurred.
According to reports, the girl boarded an e-rickshaw from Burlington crossing, intending to reach Tedhi Puliya. As the vehicle approached Nishatganj, the original driver switched seats with one of his companions and moved next to the student.
Unaware of the switch due to being on her phone, she only became suspicious when the rickshaw sped away towards Kursi Road instead of stopping at her destination.
The woman asked the driver to stop the e-rickshaw multiple times but the men ignored her pleas. One of the assailants began making obscene advances, while others joined in the harassment.
When the student resisted and screamed, her mouth was forcibly covered and the rickshaw veered into a dark, deserted lane.
