Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to the European country Poland. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the last 45 years. Poland and India have a historical connection regarding the Second World War. During the Second World War, Maharaja Jam Saheb Digvijaysinghji of Jamnagar (Gujarat) gave shelter to more than 600 people of Poland. Poland still remembers this contribution of the Indian Maharaja and expresses its gratitude to India. During his visit to Poland, PM Modi visited the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial in Warsaw and paid tribute to Jam Saheb. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has shared pictures of this on social media platforms.
