Panic gripped parts of West Bengal’s Dooars on Saturday after multiple elephant herds, including several calves, strayed into tea gardens, residential areas and even a school campus in the Dhupguri subdivision. A herd of over 50 elephants was spotted in the Haldibari Tea Garden area, while two elephants entered Magurmari near Dhupguri town, raising concern among residents. Forest Department officials, police and local volunteers are monitoring the situation and working to ensure public safety.
