A MiG-29 fighter jet en route to Agra from Punjab encountered a system malfunction that caused it to crash into a field.

Locals rushed to help an Indian Air Force pilot who ejected himself safely from a MiG-29 fighter jet that crashed into a field and caught fire near Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
The aircraft, which had taken off from Adampur in Punjab and was heading to Agra for a practice exercise, encountered a system malfunction, prompting the pilot to manoeuvre the aircraft to ensure no damage to life or property on the ground before ejecting safely, the IAF said.
Videos on social media showed locals shouting “bachao, bachao” as they ran to help the pilot who ejected out of the MiG-29 jet and landed in a field in Agra. One of the locals said, “Fauji bach gao (the soldier survived).” The pilot seemed unhurt and was escorted by the locals to a safer location.

Another video of the incident showed the jet going into a tailspin before plummeting to the ground. No loss of life or property was reported in the incident as it crashed into an unpopulated field in Agra.

“The pilot manoeuvered the aircraft to ensure no damage to life or property on ground, before ejecting safely. An enquiry has been ordered by the IAF, to ascertain the cause of the accident,” said the Indian Air Force on X.
MiG-29 Crash In Rajasthan’s Barmer
In a related incident, another MiG-29 fighter jet crashed and burst into flames in Rajasthan’s Barmer on September 2, reportedly after it faced a technical snag.
The IAF said that the pilot of the fighter jet, which was on a training mission from an Air Force base in the Barmer sector, was safe and no loss of life or property was reported. A Court of Inquiry was ordered by the IAF in this matter.
The MiG-29 is one of the IAF’s premier Air Defense fighters which was developed by the Mikoyan Design Bureau as an air superiority fighter during the 1970s in Russia.
