Jammu Kashmir Assembly Elections: The nomination process for the Jammu Kashmir Assembly elections will end on Thursday i.e. today. The new Union Territory has an alliance of Congress and National Conference, while BJP is contesting the elections for the first time without any alliance partner. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting only 62 seats. The party has fielded candidates on all 43 seats in Jammu, while it is contesting only 19 seats in the 47-seat Kashmir Valley. In an official release on Wednesday evening, the party said that it will not announce the name of any other candidate for Kashmir right now. It is believed that BJP has played different bets in Jammu and Kashmir as part of its strategy. Questions are being raised as to why BJP left 28 seats of Kashmir Valley? Party sources say that this is the election strategy of Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP leader Ram Madhav. BJP has fielded eight candidates from 16 assembly seats in South Kashmir, six from 15 seats in Central Kashmir and five from 16 seats in North Kashmir.
