Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while making a big proposal for Global Governance Reform in the BRICS Summit, said that the member countries should together prepare 10 concrete suggestions, which can be given the form of a comprehensive BRICS Reform Roadmap by the next BRICS Summit. PM Modi said that while preparing this roadmap, special attention will have to be paid to three major aspects, Representation, Responsiveness and Rule Making. He said, “With regard to representation, I would like to say that reform in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) can no longer be postponed. It is necessary to link the discussions going on for years on this topic with definite deadlines and clear results.” The Prime Minister further said that there is a need for change in global financial institutions also. Voting power, leadership positions and policy priorities should be tailored to today’s economic realities and the role of emerging economies.
