The standoff over the Asia Cup trophy continued for the second consecutive year when the title-winning Indian women’s cricket team on Sunday refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council President and Pakistan Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team won the Asia Cup title for a record eighth time by defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs here. However, after the title win, the Indian players did not come to the field for the prize distribution ceremony. Last year, the Indian men’s team had also refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy and medal from Naqvi. Naqvi is also the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
