Venezuela Earthquake Today News Live Updates: At least 164 people have been killed and around 1,000 injured after powerful tremors struck Venezuela.
Interim president Delcy Rodriguez said around 30 aftershocks have been recorded following the two strongest quakes.
The latest disaster has also renewed attention on Venezuela’s earthquake history, as seismologists note the country has experienced significant tremors in the past.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the main quake registered a preliminary magnitude of 7.5. It was preceded by a magnitude 7.2 foreshock that hit the region just 40 seconds earlier.
