A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Court in Hyderabad’s Malkajgiri on Saturday granted interim bail to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay’s son, Bandi Sai Bhagirath.
Bandi Bhagirath, who was arrested in a POCSO case, was granted bail until June 26 to allow him to appear for his final semester exam, people familiar with the matter told CNN-News18.
He was arrested by police on May 16, nearly a week after a case was registered against him under POCSO Act.
Earlier, Bhagirath had approached the Telangana High Court seeking an anticipatory bail after arrest through his legal counsel. However, the vacation bench of the High Court declined his petition.
Subsequently, he was arrested by the police. At the time, his father, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, stated that the his son had cooperated with the investigation.
Bhagirath is accused of sexually assaulting a minor.
