Two workers were injured in an incident on Tuesday involving a suspected explosion at an under-construction building on Jarmia Road in Pulakeshinagar, Bengaluru.
The incident occurred on the fourth floor of the building. A battery-like object is suspected to have exploded, but the exact cause of the incident remains unclear.
The injured workers were admitted to Bowring Hospital.
East Division DCP Vikram Amate visited the spot, while Pulakeshinagar police, ATC officials and ISD officials inspected the site. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
IED Likely Involved In Explosion
Police suspect that an improvised explosive device (IED) may have been involved in the explosion in Bengaluru’s Pulakeshinagar.
Materials suspected to be linked to an IED were allegedly found at the scene. Police have sent all samples collected from the site for forensic examination.
Investigators suspect that the IED may have been brought to the location two days before the incident.
Police are investigating who brought the suspected IED to the under-construction building and why it was placed there.
Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge said an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We are evaluating that. All the materials have gone for a forensic audit. Once that is done, we will get back to you”, Kharge said.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams examined the site. Police seized certain items and sent them to the FSL for analysis.
“Prima facie, it appears that the blast occurred when someone tried to switch on a battery,” according to Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh.
Police have also questioned the building owner. Two people were present when the blast occurred, and investigators are examining why they did not inform others about the incident.
The commissioner said the blast had occurred, but the exact cause would be established after the report is received. He rejected earlier reports that a parcel was involved in the blast, stating that the battery itself had exploded.
