Manchester City kept the Premier League title race alive with a commanding 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, cutting the gap to league leaders Arsenal to just two points with two matches remaining.

Pep Guardiola’s side delivered a composed and dominant performance despite several changes to the starting line-up ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea. Goals from Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoush and Savinho secured a comfortable win as City moved to 77 points, with Arsenal remaining top on 79.

Manchester City broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when a clever backheel from Phil Foden released Semenyo, who calmly placed the ball into the far corner. Foden was involved again eight minutes later when his touch from a cross fell kindly for Marmoush, who turned sharply before finishing clinically to double the lead.

Savinho wrapped up the result late in the second half, latching onto a precise through ball from Rayan Cherki and firing home from close range.

“It’s a massive game, must-win, so we are really happy,” Foden said.

“The aim is to keep pushing and keep (Arsenal) on their toes,” he added. “We’ve seen a lot of things can happen on the final day. I’ve experienced it many times when the game doesn’t go your way. We just have to keep pushing and doing our part.”

City dominated throughout, enjoying 72 per cent possession and comfortably controlling the tempo of the contest. Josko Gvardiol nearly added another before half-time, only for Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson to produce a superb save.

“Today City were much better than we were, were too good for us,” Palace manager Oliver Glasner said. “If you want to get the point, or even more, here at Etihad, you need a top performance, and we couldn’t deliver a top performance today.”

City’s unbeaten league run now stretches back to January, ensuring the title race will continue deep into the final week of the season.
